In some years, Fran McCaffery has proven to be a superior recruiter, capable of putting together a class that can carry the Iowa basketball program for years. In other years, the Iowa basketball coaching staff has effectively crapped the bed, and we’ve seen the downfall of that.
The classes of 2011 and 2012 were integral parts in getting the Iowa basketball team to the NCAA Tournament in three straight seasons from 2014 to 2016. The reinforcements brought in during the 2014 and 2015 offseasons though, left the Iowa basketball team high and dry and the Hawks missed the NCAA Tournament for two straight seasons.
