With Fran McCaffery in the midst of a two-game suspension and the entirety of Hawkeye nation torn on their feelings about the 9-year head coach, we thought it was an appropriate time to unveil our top five Iowa basketball players in the Fran McCaffery-era.
Much like our other top fives though, there isn’t a rubric or science to picking this. Individual and team performances were factored in in addition to the overall sustained success.
Moreover, you’re not going to see a player like Jordan Bohannon or possibly Tyler Cook on this list yet. They haven’t even been to an NCAA Tournament yet, and while there could be an argument made that one or both of them could squeeze into the bottom part of the top five purely on individual performances, I didn’t feel comfortable with that.
