The Iowa Hawkeyes made it three in a row with an 89-67 thrashing of Maryland in College Park on Thursday night. Now they get to return to Iowa City for a revenge match with a Minnesota team that gave Iowa one of it’s two losses on the season. That loss hurt not just because Iowa gave up 102 points, but because the Hawkeyes led by 7 with just 44 seconds remaining in regulation.
Hawkeye fans will recall in painstaking detail the Marcus Carr triple, without an attempt at a foul, that sent the game to overtime and the barrage of three-pointers (4, to be exact, in OT and 8 overall in the game) hit by Brandon Johnson, who has hit a total of 3 in Minnesota’s 12 other games this season.
