The Iowa Hawkeyes opened Big Ten play against the top ranked Michigan State Spartans looking for their first win against a top ranked opponent in 16 years.
Man, that was awesome!
Yes, Michigan State was minus Denzel Valentine, their best player, but wow was that a great win. Iowa opens the Big Ten regular season against two ranked teams, which could’ve spelled trouble. Michigan State and Purdue are both ranked in the top 15 and Iowa absolutely couldn’t start 0-2 in the conference, they just couldn’t.
Mike Gesell did his best to ensure that Iowa started 1-0 in the conference.
