This weekend was the start of The Basketball Tournament, the $2 million winner-take-all tournament, and in just a few days the Iowa United team will be taking the court in their opening matchup against the Wichita State alumni team. When they tip-off, they will be joined by a new, yet familiar face in former Iowa basketball player Matt Gatens.
Gatens is the most recent addition to the 2019 Iowa United roster comprised of players from Iowa, Iowa State, Drake, and UW-Milwaukee, and it came not a moment too soon.
The Iowa United are set to get a few practices in this week before heading down to Wichita to play their game on Thursday.
