The ninth-seeded Hawkeyes put together what might be their best game of the season on Thursday in the second round of the Big 10 women’s basketball tournament, defeating eighth-seeded Michigan 97-85.
It was Iowa’s highest point total of the season so far, besting a 96-point outing on Nov. 19 at home against Western Illinois.
The Wolverines began the game on a 19-6 run, but the Hawkeyes were able to close that advantage down to 29-21 by the end of the first quarter. The Hawkeyes stayed hot, and with just over six minutes left until halftime, took their first lead of the game at 38-36.
