After a 7-11 start to the season in non-conference play, the advent of Big 10 play brings a great opportunity for the Hawkeyes. Iowa can put the inconsistent offense, poor starting pitching and vulnerable defense all behind them with improved play in conference action.
Doing so will require two things from the Hawkeyes: getting to the Maryland bullpen and getting a good enough outing from their own starters to manage victories.
The Terrapins (10-10) come in to this series with a team earned run average of 4.83, but all of their weekend starters have an ERA under three.
