This series will be the conference opener for the Golden Gophers (13-9 overall), and it’s been a decent non-conference season for them. While Minnesota has struggled in the pitching department, as they bring a team earned run average of 4.50 into this weekend series, their offense has been able to make up for those deficiencies so far.
The Golden Gophers are hitting .333 as a team, better than any other team in the Big 10. All but two of their regular starters are hitting over .300 and they come into this series averaging almost seven runs per game.
