Iowa Baseball: Hawkeyes Overcome Erickson’s Rough Start

Erickson made his first career start on Saturday at Southern Illinois, and failed to get out of the third inning after giving up three runs. Despite Erickson’s rough start, the Hawkeyes were able to pull out the win 7-5.

Iowa began to dig itself out of the three-run hole in the top of the fourth inning. Senior Joel Booker singled to lead-off the inning and got into scoring position on a balk. After junior Mason McCoy flied out to left and Booker took third on the throw, senior Nick Roscetti doubled to drive Booker in.

The Salukis got two runs in the bottom of the fifth off sophomore Nick Gallagher to take a 5-1 lead, but that advantage would be short lived.
