Ekakitie who was eligible for the draft being a Brampton, Ontario native joins the Blue Bombers who currently have the longest Grey Cup drought in the CFL, last capturing the title in 1990.
The Blue Bombers new anchor in the line attended high school at Lake Forest Academy north of Chicago. Ekakitie was the highest rated recruit along with linemate Jaleel Johnson now of the Minnesota Vikings in the Hawkeyes 2012 class according to 24/7 Sports. Ekatitie had a ‘who’s who’ of offers from the likes of Northwestern, Stanford and Michigan.
Ekakitie got his most consistent playing time during his senior year.
