We’re just over two weeks away from the return of Hawkeye football inside Kinnick Stadium and right smack in the midst of a recruiting dead period. So it might seem like a time where Iowa recruiting news would be non-existent.
Not the case.
On Thursday the Hawkeyes got some of the biggest recruiting news in program history when their top target in the class of 2025 announced his commitment to Iowa.
Iose Epenesa, third son of former Hawkeye Epenesa Epenesa, had been the prized jewel of this recruiting class. While most Iowa fans felt the draw of being a legacy recruit would make the job easy for Kirk Ferentz and staff, the younger Epenesa seemed to embrace the recruiting process and be more open to other suitors than his older brothers AJ and Eric.
