IOWA CITY, Iowa -- University of Iowa quarterback C.J. Beathard has been named Big Ten Conference Co-Offensive Player of the Week for his performance in Iowa’s 31-17 win at Iowa State this past Saturday.
The Big Ten honor is the first for Beathard (6-foot-2, 209-pounds), a junior from Franklin, Tennessee (Battle Ground Academy). He is the first Hawkeye to earn the honor this season, the first Hawkeye to earn the offensive award since Marvin McNutt, Jr., in 2011, and the first Iowa quarterback to be selected since James Vandenberg, also in 2011.
