Fear the Angry Iowa Quarterback-Hating God

The Iowa football program has encountered several villains during Kirk Ferentz’s tenure as head coach. The threat posed by some of those enemies has waxed and waned over the years (Northwestern, Wisconsin, Iowa State) while others have been consistent thorns in the program’s side (Ohio State, west coast road trips, trying to run a modern offense). However, for any true fans of the Hawkeye program over the past 25 years, there is one name capable of striking fear into the hearts of even the most optimistic supporter: the Angry Iowa Running Back-Hating God (AIRBHG). This vengeful deity wreaked havoc on the Iowa offense for a decade and a half and was responsible for injuring every scholarship running back on the roster in 2004, the mass attrition of talented running backs between 2010-2011 that left Iowa starting a former walk-on fullback as its primary ball-carrier the following season, and countless atrocities in between.
