During Big Ten media day players were asked who they felt was the best offensive and defensive player in the Big Ten heading into the season. Players’ answers were kept unanimous so they didn’t feel the pressure of voting for their teammate. To no surprise, Desmond King received five of the 13 votes, winning the poll.
The Hawkeye defensive back is coming off a school-record eight interceptions last season and won the Jim Thorpe award, as well. King was a projected first round pick but returned to Iowa for his senior season. King has a chance to build on an already very impressive resume and catapult himself into the top-five in next year’s draft.
