The CFP Selection Committee released the penultimate ranking of the 2024 season Tuesday night and everything went smoothly and everybody agreed they made the right decisions.
Only of course it didn’t and of course nobody did. This is college football, controversy and conflict are the lifeblood of its fandom. Naturally, most of the ire came from who was ahead of whom and who did or did not move enough given their week 14 performance. Online arguments and AD’s politicking over positioning is nothing new, but this year we’ve been treated to both of those combined, with Iowa State’s Jamie Pollard and SMU’s Rick Hart going at each other on Twitter over the committee’s criteria.
