When Nebraska joined the B18 for the 2011 season they were on a pretty good run, having gone 29-12 the previous 3 seasons under the leadership of Bo Pellini. They hadn’t been able to recapture the glory days under Tom Osborne, but Pelini had proved a salve to the Bill Callahan years where the Huskers had had sub-500 seasons twice in 4 years. Pelini would proceed to go 37-12 in his 4 years at the helm in the B1G, being dismissed rather unceremoniously after beating Iowa in 2014 wherein Nebraska’s AD intimated that a win over a decimated Iowa team wasn’t good enough for a man who had never won fewer than 9 games in his 8 seasons at Nebraska.
