The last time the Iowa State Cyclones came to Kinnick Stadium they left with a trophy and Matt Campbell’s first victory over Kirk Ferentz. Sure, we took that trophy back last year in Ames but that game was played under less than ideal circumstances, especially for ISU.
In the wake of the, possibly illegal and assuredly unethical, DPS investigation that ensnared athletes from both schools, ISU was without their starting QB, one of it’s best RBs, and several other key players. Iowa was down Noah Shannon (a true loss, but survivable), Reggie Bracy (who hadn’t done much), Jack Johnson (who had done nothing) and Aaron Blom (who’s missed FGs against ISU in 2022 helped send the CyHawk to Ames in the first place).
