IOWA CITY, Iowa -- Six University of Iowa pitchers limited Milwaukee to two hits in a 9-1 victory Wednesday night at Duane Banks Field.

Freshmen Shane Ritter, Cole McDonald, and Sammy Lizarraga held the Panthers hitless over the first six innings, just issuing two free bases. Lizarraga (1-0) earned his first career victory, facing six batters with one strikeout.

"The pitching was outstanding up and down the rotation," said UI head coach Rick Heller. "We played good defense on a night where it is not easy to play good defense and we had enough offense to score enough runs so that it really wasn't that close.
