The Iowa Hawkeyes finished the season at 7-5 and 4-4 in the Big Ten. Despite losing two straight to wrap up the year, Iowa is destined for a bowl game this season after losing the Outback Bowl last year. Who could Iowa end up facing in their bowl game this year?
UCLA
The Bruins are the most likely opponent for Iowa because there are two bowl games where a UCLA-Iowa matchup could exist - the Foster Farms Bowl and the Holiday Bowl. Brett Hundley and the Bruins would offer a solid challenge against a Hawkeyes team that faced only one ranked opponent in 2014. In either scenario, UCLA wouldn't even be leaving California for their bowl game.
USC
The second Los Angeles school the Hawkeyes are likely to face, the Trojans are also set for a possible appearance in the Foster Farms Bowl or the Holiday Bowl. With USC never appearing in the Holiday Bowl, a Trojans-Hawkeyes matchup in San Diego may be enticing enough for the bowl committee to shuffle some teams to make it happen.
Tennessee
The Volunteers are the likely opponent if Iowa ends up in the Music City Bowl. Just like a possible matchup with one of the Southern California teams, the Hawkeyes would essentially be playing a road game with Tennessee not even leaving their home state for the bowl game. Still, the Vols represent an SEC opponent that Iowa has a decent shot at defeating, meaning this matchup might benefit Iowa.
