PENN STATE AT IOWA FOOTBALL TO BE IN PRIME TIME
IOWA CITY, IOWA - - The University of Iowa’s home football contest against Penn State on Oct. 20 willbe televised in prime time from Kinnick Stadium. The game will start at 7 p.m. CT and be telecast by the BigTen Network (HD). The announcement was made Tuesday by the Big Ten Network (BTN) and the Big TenConference.
The home contest against the Nittany Lions will mark Iowa’s only prime time appearance during theregular season. Start times have not yet been set for any other Iowa football games. The upcoming season willmark the fourth straight year the Hawkeyes have hosted a prime time event. Iowa hosted Northwestern lastseason, Penn State in 2010 and Michigan in 2009.
The Iowa-Penn State game has also been designated the annual ANF Game Day at Kinnick Stadiumpresented by the Iowa Farm Bureau. The UI Athletics Department will partner with the IFB on a variety ofactivities that celebrate the many contributions of America’s farmers. Iowa is 6-3 in night games in Kinnick Stadium. Iowa has wins over Northwestern (2011), Penn State(2010), Michigan (2009), Syracuse (2007), Arizona State (2003) and Northern Illinois (1999), and losses toOhio State (2006), Iowa State (2002) and Miami, Fla. (1992).
Iowa posted a 41-31 win over Northwestern last season in its only evening contest during the regularseason. The Hawkeyes played a second night game at the 2011 Insight Bowl, dropping a 31-14 decision to14th-ranked Oklahoma.
The Hawkeyes were 2-1 in night games in 2010. Iowa played four night games in 2009 and won all four.The 2009 night games were against Penn State, Michigan and Michigan State during the regular season, alongwith Georgia Tech in the 2010 FedEx Orange Bowl.
Fans of the Iowa Hawkeyes who were general public and/or UI faculty/staff season ticket holders a year agoare reminded that the priority deadline to order their 2012 season tickets is Friday, April 27. Fans should notethat away game ticket orders must also be submitted by April 27, which is an earlier deadline than in past years.
Fans of the Hawkeyes who did not purchase general public and/or UI faculty/staff seasons tickets a year ago,but are interested in purchasing tickets for the 2012 season, should note that the UI Athletics Ticket Office iscurrently accepting requests for new season ticket holders and that the supply of season tickets available forpurchase is limited. Requests must be made online at hawkeyesports.com and should be submitted by April 27.
The UI Athletics Ticket Office is currently accepting orders for 2012 UI student season tickets from current UI students. Students must place their order online and can do so at hawkeyesports.com. UI students have theoption to purchase either a six or seven game package for the upcoming football season, as the home contestwith Nebraska falls on a UI holiday weekend (Friday, Nov. 23). Students ordering their 2012 UI footballseason tickets will also have the opportunity to order their 2012-13 men’s basketball season ticket this spring.
Current UI students are encouraged to place their 2012 UI football and 2012-13 UI men’s basketball seasonticket orders by Friday, May 11. UI students must also order tickets for the Sept. 1 football game vs. NorthernIllinois, at Chicago’s Soldier Field, by Friday, April 27.

The Hawkeyes open the 2012 season Sept. 1, meeting Northern Illinois at Soldier Field in Chicago. Iowathen plays four straight home games, hosting Iowa State, Northern Iowa, Central Michigan and Minnesota onconsecutive weekends.
