Gerardo Bedoya was sent off a world-record 46 times during his playing days and marked his first foray into the first-team dugout with a dismissal after just 21 minutes.
EXTRA TIME
Gerardo Bedoya holds the world record for most red cards received by any player and celebrated the start of his managerial career in the only way he knows how.
The Colombian, a versatile defender who could play in defense and midfield, was sent off 45 times during a playing career spent mostly in South America before coaching the Independiete Santa Fe youth team.
Being afforded a first-team opportunity, Bedoya lined up alongside new Santa Fe manager Alexis Garcia and assistants Carlos Valencia and Javier Arango as the club took on Junior FC.
