The Women’s World Cup is set to see plenty of goals this summer and a familiar name leads the Golden Boot stakes.
USA’s Alex Morgan is William Hill’s 6/1 (7.0) favourite to scoop the award for the first time in her career and become just the second American to do after Michelle Akers, who netted 10 goals in the 1991 edition.
Morgan does not come into the tournament in the best of form, having failed to score for Orlando Pride this season in her four starts, although her impressive record of 101 international goals in 162 games will certainly give 29-year-old heart.
