Cristiano Ronaldo and his team-mates were greeted by thousands of fans at the airport and on the streets of Lisbon as they paraded the Euro 2016 trophy
Portugal received a heroes' welcome upon returning to Lisbon as the new European champions but there were more than a few glum faces in Paris as President Hollande offered the France squad his commiserations.
Cristiano Ronaldo and his team-mates enjoyed an open-top bus parade with the trophy after landing in the capital, with thousands of fans waiting at the airport and on the streets to greet them.
For Didier Deschamps' team, though, it was a trip to the Elysee Palace, where they met the head of state and did their best to force a smile for the waiting photographers.
