VIDEO: It's a dream come true - Javier Hernandez set for World Cup record with Mexico

The West Ham striker is already El Tri's all-time top scorer and in Russia will set his sights on yet another historical milestone

No matter what happens at this summer’s World Cup, Javier Hernandez will always be an icon in the eyes of his compatriots.

Mexico’s all-time leading goalscorer with an impressive 49 goals in 101 games, Hernandez scored twice at the 2010 World Cup before notching once in 2014, and he could usurp 1998 hero Luis Hernandez as his country’s top scorer at World Cup finals if he manages to net twice in Russia.

It remains to be seen whether manager Juan Carlos Osorio decides to use Chicharito from the start in Russia, with Raul Jimenez also vying to lead the line for El Tricolor.
