The Peru international will have to wait several months to make his Vancouver debut.
The Vancouver Whitecaps have announced that attacking midfielder/forward Yordy Reyna has undergone surgery for a fifth metatarsal fracture of his left foot.
Reyna, who was signed from Red Bull Salzburg in the offseason, suffered the injury in a friendly against the Portland Timbers on Feb. 15. He will now be sidelined until at least early summer.
“Yordy was only with the group for a few weeks before his unfortunate injury but quickly showed his attacking quality and dynamic play,” Whitecaps head coach Carl Robinson said in a news release.
