U.S. under-20s qualify for 2017 FIFA U-20 World Cup

The Americans clinched a spot by defeating El Salvador on Friday.

The United States under-20 team has qualified for the 2017 FIFA U-20 World Cup.

Tab Ramos' side secured its spot in the biennial tournament after defeating El Salvador 2-1 on Friday night. That win followed a shock 1-0 victory over Mexico on Monday, which was the first time the Americans had defeated their southern neighbor at the U-20 level in over 30 years.

With the wins over El Salvador and Mexico, the U.S. topped Group D of the CONCACAF U-20 Championship, and will advance to face Honduras in the continental final on Sunday.
