The Timbers jumped out to an early lead and hung on as Seattle charged back in the second half to get a home victory at Providence Park on Sunday.
Just a week after a lopsided defeat to the Seattle Sounders, the Portland Timbers put a beating of their own on their Cascadia rival with a 4-2 win over Seattle on Sunday.
Vytautas Andriuskevicius got things started early for Portland, putting away a pass from Jack Jewsbury in the 16th minute. That set off a string of Timbers goals with Fanendo Adi doubling the advantage five minutes later by putting home a rebound and Lucas Melano making it 3-0 before the 30-minute mark.
