The Jamaican striker will be reunited with his college coach as he swaps one Pacific Northwest franchise for another.
The Portland Timbers have acquired winger/forward Darren Mattocks from the Vancouver Whitecaps in exchange for targeted allocation money in 2016, and general allocation money and an international roster slot in 2017.
Mattocks, 25, joins after spending just over four seasons in Vancouver. He was the second pick in the 2012 MLS SuperDraft out of the University of Akron, and now will be reunited with his college coach Caleb Porter.
“We are extremely pleased to be able to add Darren Mattocks to our roster as another dynamic attacking option,” Timbers head coach Porter said in a club release.
