‘They gave a good fight’ – Nigeria reacts as Croatia end Russia's World Cup run

Croatia ended Russia’s amazing World run with a 4-3 penalty shoot-out victory in the quarterfinals on Saturday.

Stanislav Cherchesov’s side settled for a 2-2 draw at the end of extra-time and forced the Croats to a shoot-out but Mario Fernandes' misplaced effort from the spot ended the country's hopes of progressing to the next round.

Despite the disappointment, Nigerians have praised the hosts’ for their fighting spirit throughout the tournament.
