The Toronto FC goalkeeper is set for a spell on the sidelines, with backups Alex Bono and Quillan Roberts poised to fill the void.
Toronto FC goalkeeper Clint Irwin is expected to be sidelined for six weeks with a quad strain, the club announced Tuesday, opening the door for young backups Alex Bono and Quillan Roberts.
Irwin, who has started all 15 MLS matches for Toronto since an offseason trade from the Colorado Rapids, exited in the 70th minute of a 3-2 loss to Orlando City on Saturday.
Second-year goalkeeper Bono replaced Irwin to make his MLS debut, but it remains to be seen whether the 22-year-old Syracuse product or Roberts will fill the void going forward.
