Marseille have secured the signature of Dutch midfielder Kevin Strootman from Roma for a fee in the region of €25 million (£23m/$29m), plus bonuses.
The 28-year-old had been linked with a move away from the Serie A outfit to the Ligue 1 club and joins Rudi Garcia’s side on a five-year deal.
The Netherlands international has been with the Giallorossi since arriving in 2013 from PSV, but is not essential to Eusebio Di Francesco’s plans for the forthcoming season.
Earlier in the week, Di Francesco confirmed that the club was in negotiations with Marseille over Strootman’s possible departure though the 48-year-old manager had reiterated that any speculation should not distract from his main focus.
