San Jose Earthquakes fire GM John Doyle

The general manager had also served as a player, assistant coach and television analyst for the Quakes, and was named to the club's hall of fame in 2005.

The San Jose Earthquakes announced they have fired longtime general manager John Doyle on Monday, with technical director Chris Leitch named interim GM.

Doyle has served as the club's GM since the team relaunched in 2007 after the initial franchise moved to Houston in 2005.

"I would like to express my sincere thanks to John for his nine years of service with the team as general manager," Earthquakes president Dave Kaval said in a club release.
