Bobby Madley has quit his role as a Premier League referee.
The 32-year-old, reportedly regarded as a rising star in officiating, has retired suddenly, with the circumstances surrounding his departure still unclear.
“Bobby Madley is no longer employed by PGMOL," read a statement from the Professional Game Match Officials organisation.
"We understand that he has decided to relocate due to a change in his personal circumstances.”
Madley has been referee for a number of high profile encounters, including last season's Community Shield, as well as matches between Tottenham and Manchester United and Liverpool and Arsenal.
