The Super Eagles are getting set for their sixth outing at the global showpiece and the defender is upbeat that the side will impress in Russia
William Troost-Ekong is confident that Nigeria will spring up surprises at the 2018 World Cup.
The Super Eagles qualified for the global tourney despite being paired with reigning African champions Cameroon and Algeria.
In Russia Gernot Rohr’s men face Croatia, Iceland and Argentina in Group D and the defender who played a crucial role in qualifying is confident that the West Africans will put up a decent showing.
“It’s hard because we’ve got a really difficult group but I think we can surprise like we did in qualifying, as we were not the favourites to go through, with Cameroon and Algeria there,” Troost-Ekong told The Guardian.
