Neagle ready for fresh start with evolving D.C. United

The ex-Sounders veteran is excited to join D.C. United and help fill the void left by longtime star Chris Pontius.

WASHINGTON — Lamar Neagle understands the inevitable. This fall, that meant bracing himself for a change of scenery.

The midfielder-forward enjoyed a career year with the Seattle Sounders in 2013, recording eight goals and four assists. He raised his game another notch in 2014, reaching nine goals and nine assists. Yet when it came time for the Sounders to add reinforcements this past August, they did so at Neagle's positions — inking Austrian playmaker Andreas Ivanschitz and Paraguayan forward Nelson Valdez.
