The pace of the game slowed considerably in the second half, but PSG did what they had to do to secure victory against newly-promoted Metz. A penalty from Di Maria and Choupo-Moting's header from a Verratti free-kick - both in the first half - sealed the points for the visitors, who now sit top of the table on goal difference ahead of the weekend's other Ligue 1 matches. As for Metz, they dropped off considerably in the second period and created no real chances, with Diallo their best outlet in the first half. That is now a second defeat in a row for Hognon's side.
