Having made his debut back in 2003, the versatile 34-year-old has set a new record for the Albiceleste in a World Cup 2018 clash with Iceland
Javier Mascherano has passed Javier Zanetti to become Argentina’s most-capped player, with a 144th appearance taken in during a World Cup 2018 clash with Iceland.
The 34-year-old made his senior debut back in July 2003 as the Albiceleste faced Uruguay in a friendly encounter.
That proved to be his only outing of that calendar year, but he has been a regular part of the fold since 2004.
