Mali midfielder Lassana Coulibaly has spoken about how he thought he was being pranked when Liverpool great Steven Gerrard phoned him with an offer to join Scottish giants Rangers.
Coulibaly was on Tuesday unveiled as a Rangers player on a season loan deal from French League 1 side Angers.
With Gerrard at the other end of the line inviting him to join Rangers, an awestruck Coulibaly first thought the call was a hoax before agreeing to a loan move at Ibrox.
“I am very happy to be here,” Coulibaly told Rangers TV.
“When my agent told me Steven Gerrard is the head coach, I said, OK ‘no problem’ and I was happy to come and join this team.
