The 25-year-old goalkeeper has been thrust back into a starting role for Colorado with the team's starter out injured.
Zac MacMath's season appeared to be over as soon as Tim Howard arrived in Colorado.
The 25-year-old began the season as the Rapids' starter, but his time in that position began to tick down when, early in the MLS season, Colorado announced the U.S. international would arrive from Everton at midseason.
Howard's arrival in July did push MacMath, who had performed well as Colorado's starter, into the backup spot. Four months later though, and the Rapids are improbably into the Western Conference final — and MacMath, improbably, is back in the starting role.
