Lyon aiming to beat Everton to Barcelona defender Mina signing

The Ligue 1 club's president is hoping the prospect of Champions League football will prove to be the decisive factor for the Colombia international

Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas says Yerry Mina would prefer to play for his side over Everton, claiming the promise of Champions League football gives them the edge over the Barcelona defender's other suitors.

Mina had talks with Everton about a move to the Premier League but the 23-year-old had previously said he would prefer to fight for his place at Camp Nou after only arriving from Palmeiras in January.

However, Mina is now prepared to leave Barcelona in search of regular first-team football and is willing to join Everton, who have offered the Catalan club €17 million (£15m/$20m) plus add-ons.
