While the two teams met last summer, and again before this year's tournament, too much has changed to read into El Tri and La Roja's previous meetings.
SAN JOSE, Calif. — It hasn't been long since Mexico last met Chile in the Copa America, but a lot has changed.
It was June 15, 2015, when Miguel Herrera took what amounted to a Mexico B team into Santiago. Mexico was in Group A alongside host Chile. After a disappointing draw against Bolivia to open the tournament, Mexico's hopes weren't high. But the team rode a double from Matias Vuoso and a goal from Raul Jimenez to a draw with the host, which got a double from Arturo Vidal and a goal from Eduardo Vargas.
