United States women's national team captain Lindsey Horan is pushing back against Carli Lloyd's criticisms of the squad in the wake of their 0-0 tie against Portugal at the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup.
Speaking to reporters on Thursday, Horan called it "kind of frustrating for me to hear" what Lloyd's comments "especially knowing this team and knowing how much we put into every single game, how much preparation we put into every single game, seeing our trainings, seeing how hard we work."
The U.S. captain went on to say "everyone is entitled to their own opinion," but Lloyd isn't around the squad and has "no idea what's going on behind the scenes, you have no idea every single training what we're doing individually, collectively, etcetera.
