The striker initially retired from international duty after the nation failed to qualify for the 2010 World Cup but he was enticed back and awarded the captain's armband
The esteem in which a large portion of the Sweden squad hold Zlatan Ibrahimovic encouraged Erik Hamren to make him captain of the national team, he has revealed.
Ibrahimovic retired from international football following Sweden's failure to qualify for World Cup 2010, but Hamren managed to lure him back into the set-up and subsequently handed him the captain's armband.
At the time it was a controversial decision, but the 58-year-old has no doubt it has been a successful one.
