FIFA president Gianni Infantino has said the 2026 World Cup could be co-hosted by three or four countries using four or five grounds each.
Speaking during a visit to 2022 hosts Qatar, he said the move would be "in line with our sustainability and legacy policies."
"We will encourage co-hosting for the World Cup because we need FIFA to show we are reasonable and we have to think about sustainability long-term," he added.
"It is perfectly in line with our sustainability and legacy [policies] to maybe bring together two, three, four countries who can jointly present a project with three, four, five stadiums each.
