Gerrard's Rangers secure first Old Firm league victory for over six years

Steven Gerrard secured his first Old Firm Derby win as Rangers manager on Saturday as his side recorded their first victory over Celtic in over six years.

The Gers won 1-0 in front of a fevered Ibrox crowd to move level on points with their first-placed rivals.

Ryan Jack's 30th-minute deflected strike proved enough for Gerrard's men, their first victory over Celtic since 2012.

In 2012, the Gers won 4-2 and 3-2 in two meetings with Celtic, though they were also beaten by their rivals twice as they eventually finished second in the SPL.
