The 36-year-old has been told he can now leave Birmingham after being denied the chance of a Premier League return in January
Former Manchester United goalkeeper Tomasz Kuszczak has revealed that Newcastle United tried to sign him on loan in January.
Newcastle were on the lookout for a new keeper both last summer and in January, and eventually brought in Martin Dubravka on loan from Sparta Prague to great effect.
Dubravka has subsequently signed a permanent contract at St James’ Park, but Birmingham’s Kuszczak claims he was one of the keepers Newcastle had previously been interested in signing.
