Florent Malouda inclusion forces French Guiana to forfeit Gold Cup match

The former France international was ruled ineligible before the tournament but proceeded to play, and Honduras will now be awarded a 3-0 result

CONCACAF made good on its word and handed French Guiana a stiff penalty for fielding Florent Malouda in a Gold Cup group game.

The confederation announced early Friday that its disciplinary committee has enforced the penalty after the team put Malouda on the field. Though he was born in French Guiana, Malouda represented France 80 times between 2004-12, including two World Cup appearances.

French overseas departments like French Guiana, Martinique and Guadeloupe are not FIFA members but are full CONCACAF members.
