The Argentine underwent surgery and will miss the next several weeks recovering.
Columbus Crew midfielder Federico Higuain will miss up to seven weeks of action after undergoing surgery to repair a hernia injury, the club announced Thursday.
Higuain, 31, had the procedure Thursday in Milwaukee. If the recovery time lasts the full seven weeks, then Higuain will miss eight league matches.
The Argentine joined the Crew in 2012, and is the club's lone designated player. He has tallied three goals and three assists in 13 regular season MLS games for Columbus in 2016.
