The Selecao coach says he included the duo for qualifiers against Uruguay and Paraguay based upon their previous performances for his side.
Brazil coach Dunga says China-based duo Gil and Renato Augusto deserve their call ups to the national team, insisting it would have been unfair to leave the duo out of his squad for March’s World Cup qualifiers with Uruguay and Paraguay.
The pair led Corinthians to the Brazilian league title last season but faced speculation their respective international careers could have come to an end following their decision to head for the Far East.
Defender Gil and midfielder Renato Augusto joined Shandong Luneng and Beijing Guoan respectively earlier this year but Dunga says their previous performances were enough to convince him to keep faith with the pair.
