VANCOUVER – Marcel de Jong pointed to the atmosphere at BC Place during Canada’s recent World Cup qualifiers as a big reason for joining the Vancouver Whitecaps on an 18-month contract with an option.
The Newmarket, Ontario, native joined fellow Canadian international David Edgar in becoming the Whitecaps newest additions on Monday, as the Blue and White refresh their squad during the summer transfer window.
The 29-year-old moves to Vancouver after playing in the NASL with the Ottawa Fury, where he made nine appearances in all competitions with the Canadian capital-based outfit.
